Coming off a tough game last week, Roar was hoping to have a fast start to this game.

With cooler conditions, Roar was once again slow out of the blocks. Fortunately the defence was strong and Roar didn’t concede any goals.

Once the players got their momentum, M. Corso was able to score for a one-goal lead going into half-time.

Once the whistle blew to start the second half, Roar hit the ground running with a fantastic goal kicked by S. Rowe from the halfway line, and M. Corso kicked his second goal to seal the game.

It was another great team effort by the team, with everyone contributing to the win.

Roar looks forward to hitting the road next week.

Goals: M. Corso 2, S. Rowe.

Award: L. Quinane.

The under-12s were convincing against Diamonds, coming away with a 10-1 win.

Cobram started slowly but once Logan Stone scored the first goal with a hard strike, the goals came at regular internals.

For the second week in a row Cobram had six players on the scoresheet, with Deacon Forster, Luke Goodin and Jesse Wakeman scoring one each, Logan and Jackson Koopman scoring two and Jake Kalz bagging a hat-trick.

Cobram’s defence of Thomas Corso, Sonny Rowe, Lachie Kelly and Harry Paterson was strong, repelling Diamond’s attacking moves.

Keeper Jordan Kelly made some excellent saves.

Spencer Clark was industrious in the midfield and Jake Brincat was creative with his passes.

Deacon was unlucky not to score more than one, with his header smashing into the crossbar.

Cobram sits second on the ladder, one point behind Myrtleford.

Goals: Jake 3, Jackson 2, Logan 2, Jesse, Luke, Deacon.

Awards: Jackson and Spencer.

In round nine, Roar faced the very fast and skilled team of Wodonga Diamonds.

The pace was set from the start. A great pass from Giuseppe Mete set up a goal for Sam Wood, who opened the scoring for the Roar.

This was immediately answered by Wodonga, who found the back of the net minutes later.

Wodonga founds a few cracks in the Cobram defence and capitalised. It upped the pressure in attack, resulting in a few quick goals.

Sam steadied the Roar with a goal late in the first half.

The Roar regrouped at half-time and steadied their defence. Superb efforts by Charlie Paterson, Michael Keech and Declan Cheong in defence and the safe hands of Toby Shilling in goals ensured that no further goals were kicked against them.

Up the other end Giuseppe, with another great pass, set up Seb Fotia, who scored another great goal for the Roar.

Goals: Sam Wood 2, Sebastian Fotia.

Best: Sam Wood, Giuseppe Mete, Noah Sullivan.
